Getting Started
This is my first time bouldering, what do I do? Welcome! When you arrive, our friendly crew will guide you through a short induction to explain safety, etiquette, and how the space works. You will need to do a ‘fall test’ to make sure you can fall safely. Check out our First Time page for more. We also run Beginner Classes, so for a more guided initial experience book into one of those.
Is bouldering safe? Bouldering carries inherent risks, but our space is designed with safety in mind. We provide inductions for all new climbers, maintain clean and padded fall zones, and have trained staff on hand during all open hours.
What should I bring? Comfortable activewear, a water bottle, and climbing shoes if you have them. If not, we’ve got you covered with rentals.
Can I rent climbing shoes? Yes, climbing shoes are available to rent for $6. We recommend wearing thin socks with rental shoes. Each pair is disinfected and aired out after use, and deep cleaned regularly. Full members get 50% off climbing shoe rental.
I’ve been before, do I need to sign the waiver and do an induction again? If you’ve already signed our waiver and completed your induction, you’re good to go. If it’s been a while or we’ve updated our policies, we may ask you to refresh.
Can I bring my own chalk or shoes? Absolutely. We highly recommend liquid chalk as it produces less mess and a lower health risk. You’re welcome to bring your own gear, just make sure shoes are clean and chalk is contained in a chalk ball or similar. No chalk bags/buckets are to be put on the matting.
Do you offer memberships or multi-pass options? We do! Ask at reception or check our memberships page for day passes, multi-passes, and membership options. You can sign up online with no fees.
Are there any extra fees? No way! What you see is what you pay. You wont get any surprises as you go to tap your card. We as a business take on all the transaction fees through all methods of payments. There are no lock in contracts or any sign up fees.

I’m coming after work, can I get changed/shower there? Yes, we have a shower and toilet off the main climbing area. There is also a large accessible toilet with baby change table in our staff area, let us know if you would like to make use of these and we can show you where to go.
Is there parking? Yes, there is limited parking available behind the gym and in the centre of the complex. If these spots are full, please use the available street parking nearby. We kindly ask that you do not park in front of our neighbours’ roller doors, as they may need access at any time.
Do you sell snacks or drinks? We stock a small range of quality drinks and snacks at reception. You’re also welcome to bring your own (no glass, please).
Kids & Families
Is there a minimum age for bouldering? Yes, our minimum climbing age for standard opening hours is 12 due to wall height, safety, and insurance. Climbers aged up to 14, a responsible adult must remain onsite for supervision purposes.
Is there anything for Under 12s? Yes, though they can’t climb during our full opening hours, we run Rise Rookies classes for 7-11 year olds every Saturday and Sunday mornings and Thursday afternoon. Check out our Under 12s page for more info and to book in.
Can I bring my kids to the venue if I’m climbing? Yes, they can still be on site non-climbing with conditions. Little ones must be actively supervised at all times (e.g. one adult climbs while the other watches). We have a small kids corner with activities to help keep them occupied.
Older kids who can entertain themselves may attend with one climbing guardian, who remains fully responsible for their safety, including keeping them clear of fall zones.
Do you have a creche? Not yet. But we’re hoping to launch one in 2026. If you’re an early childhood educator and want to help us build it, please reach out.
BREAK IT DOWN FOR ME
Ages 0-6: Unfortunately we do not have any opportunities for this age bracket to get on the wall yet (with the exception of out of hours private group bookings). Kids can still be supervised on site while parents/older siblings climb.
Ages 7-11: Book into our Weekend mornings or Thursday afternoon Rise Rookies class to get on the wall. Or make an out of hours private group booking for parties.
Ages 12-14: Free reign of all regular opening hours with a supervising parent on site, no need to book in.
Ages 15+: Free reign of all regular opening hours, no need to book in.
Jobs & Volunteering
Can I apply for a job? We’re currently staffed entirely by casual crew. If you’re keen to join our casual books, send your resume to admin@riseclimbing.com.au. It will be viewed favourably if you have popped into the gym to say hello or have a climb prior!
Can I volunteer? Absolutely. If you love being around bouldering but can’t commit to regular shifts, volunteering is a great way to contribute. Volunteers help with general support (usually on special event days, or if you are keen to help with route resetting) and are never expected to supervise staff. Perks may include day passes and merch discounts as a thank-you for your time.
Gear
Do you sell climbing gear? We stock a range of climbing shoes, chalk, apparel, and accessories. We’re always growing our store to make sure you have access to quality gear when you need it. Members receive 10% off all store purchases.
School and Private Group Bookings
Do you offer group sessions? Yes, we welcome bookings for schools, youth programs, sporting clubs, corporate teams, and special events. All group sessions include a safety induction, climbing access, shoe hire, and staff support. We offer large group discounts within our opening hours, and private bookings outside of our opening hours.
What about birthday parties? Same as above, birthday party groups can be booked either during or outside of standard opening hours and include a safety induction, climbing access, shoe hire, and staff support. We also have a kitchen space for pre/post-party gathering if you would like to add this on. Catering can be BYO or we can arrange this on request.
Do we need to book in advance? Bookings are essential for any requests outside of standard opening hours. For groups attending during regular opening hours, if you have a number larger than 10 or have specific requirement please also get in touch.
How do we book? You can fill out our Group Booking Form to fill us in on your requirements, or email us at admin@riseclimbing.com.au if you have any questions.
